Hip Hop Party

party by anna

Tonight is the annual VH1 Hip Hop Honors, which pays tribute to rap's musical, political, and cultural impact. This year's ceremony will honor 25 years of Def Jam records. In preparation of the show, why not have your own hip hop jam?

INVITATION TYPE

  • Text Message: This is a bit of a last minute affair, so text and tweet about it.

DECORATIONS

  • Def Jam, VH1, and VH1 Hip Hop Honors Logos.
  • Pictures of famous Def Jam artists throughout the years (see list below for ideas).
  • Keep your theme colors in black, silver, and gold. Glitter and rhinestones are totally appropriate here as well.

GAMES

  • Drinking game – take a drink every time an artist thanks God, says "You know what I'm sayin," gives Obama a shout out, and any other overused phrases that you deem appropriate to drink to.
  • Hip Hop Trivia
  • Dice

ATTIRE

Dress like a diva or hustler. Model your look after the affair's red carpet photos.

LAST MINUTE TIPS

This party was written from a white person's perspective (even though she believes she was black in a previous life). We would like to extend our sincerest apologies for any lack of authenticity.

And as always, remember to bring your camera!
