Monthly 80s Party – Blondie

party by anna

It gives us great pleasure to present the pride of Hawthorne, New Jersey, Debbie Harry, and her Rock and Roll Hall of Fame band Blondie as this month's 80s tribute party. The band set the scene for 80s glam punk, giving us amazing ideas for a hell of a party.

INVITATION TYPE

DECORATIONS

Blondie were punk rock pioneers, so your décor should reflect this:

  • Vinyl records covering the walls.
  • Lots of black with accents of blue, pink, and red.
  • Disco balls, strobe lights, and smoke machines (or bubble machines if you don't want the smoke inhalation).
  • Exposed brick, spray paint.
  • British flags, skulls.

FOOD AND DRINK MENU

Since Debbie Harry is a former Playboy Bunny and used to serve at the old Playboy Clubs, we're borrowing some menu ideas from the current Playboy Club in Las Vegas.

ENTERTAINMENT

  • Blondie Greatest Hits – includes some of our favorite tracks from the 80s, like Rapture, Heart of Glass, and One Way or Another.
  • Eat to the Beat – a DVD compilation of Blondie videos.

GAMES

  • Keep with the music theme by playing Rock Band and Guitar Hero.
  • Hold a costume contest for the best 80s punk rock look.

ATTIRE

80s Punk-Rock Glam

  • Ladies – band t-shirts, black leather, any skanky clothing that makes you look like a Rock of Love contestant. You may consider getting breast implants for this.
  • Guys – spikes, leather jackets, tight jeans, rock a Mohawk, wear face paint.

LAST MINUTE TIPS

Things can get pretty intense with a punk rock lifestyle. If you wake up the next morning naked next to a stranger, don't say we didn't warn you.

And as always, remember to bring your camera!
