Barbecue Week: Old School Rap Party II – The Cookout

party by anna

Picture this – Compton, circa 1993, jamming out to Dr Dre's Ain't Nuthin but a G Thang. Use the song's video to set the stage for an amazing barbecue. In spirit of our original Old School Rap Party, we present, Old School Rap Party II – The Cookout.

INVITATION TYPE

DECORATIONS

This party is about two things- the food and the music. Decorations kind of take a back burner with this type of event. Your focus should be more about accommodating your guests rather than making the place look all fancy. Naturally, this event is held outdoors.

  • Provide plenty of seating and tables.
  • Make sure to secure an area for the dance floor.
  • There should be a space for active outdoor games.
  • Provide bug spray, citronella candles and tiki torches to lure away bugs. Also be sure to have a first aid kit on hand – things can get a little crazy.

  • "Jungle Boogie" by Kool and the Gang
