If you're one of the millions of fans of the television show lost, you have most likely been counting the days to the season 5 premiere since the moment season 4 left you with countless burning questions. Well, tonight is the night (finally!), and what better time to bring together your closest fellow lost fans for an evening of reminiscing, recaps, and television viewing?
INVITATION TYPE
DECORATIONS
- There are many ways you can decorate for this event. We suggest a tropical beach theme (palm trees, sand, coconuts, tiki torches) sprinkled with some of the show's mystery.
- Purchase a few of these Dharma Initiative patches to give out to your friends as gifts.
- Hang up posters.
FOOD AND DRINK MENU
Just as the survivors of Oceanic flight 13 would prepare meals together, work as a group on food and drink, whether by asking folks to bring something to the party, or by working together in the kitchen. We recommend "survivor" and campfire fare.
- Bullet point 3-5 Ideas, try to always include one of each of the following:
-
Appetizer: Campfire Fondue
We loved this recipe from The Camping Source.com for the combination of beer and cheese..which we recall as ingredients available through Dharma Initiative supplies
- Entrée: Campfire Shish Kabobs
-
Dessert: S'mores
If you're not feeling the campfire, or want these made ahead of time, you can cheat with this indoor recipe from Nestle.
- Cocktail: Beer
ENTERTAINMENT
- All you need is your television tuned to ABC for the Premiere event – a one hour recap and two hour season opener will keep this party going. If you have a DVR, take advantage of it so you can rewind and replay any important points you want to go over with the group.
GAMES
- Give out lottery tickets to everyone with the numbers 4, 8, 15, 16, 23, and 42.
- Poll your guests and have them make predictions about the episode or specific characters. Reward winners with a poster.
- Drinking game – have folks take a drink every time Sawyer calls someone by a nickname.
- Play the Lost video game.
ATTIRE
- "Shipwrecked" gear. Show up looking like you've been deserted on an island – dirty t-shirts, ripped jeans, unkempt hair, etc. Give prizes to the best castaway.
LAST MINUTE TIPS
Be open to sharing the experience of the show with others, however, enforce silence during the viewing and leave conversation for commercials and after the show. Again, if you have a DVR, pause during commercial breaks to give yourselves even more time for discussion.
And as always, remember to bring your camera!
